You are probably familiar with the last ten nights of Ramadan, and how virtuous those nights are? Yes.
Well, let me introduce to 10 days that are MORE virtuous, yet many people are not aware of it. It's the ten days of the Islamic calendar month of Dhul-Hijjah (which starts on Nov.18)
Dhul-Hijjah (the Month of Hajj) is the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. It is during this month that Hajj takes place.
According to Rasul Allah, sal Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam, the first ten days of this month are a special time for worship and an increase of good deeds.
Ahmad and at-Tabarani record from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "There is no day more honorable in Allaah's sight and no acts more beloved therein to Allaah than those in these ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah)"
In particular, the 9th day of the month marks the day of Arafah, and the 10th day is Eid. Even if you are not traveling for Hajj, you can still put in extra effort to do more good deeds.
What sort of extra good deeds can you do?
*****************************************
1. Fasting these 10 days
2. Giving more charity during these 10 days
3. Say the "Eid" Takbeers loudly wherever you go. (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Laa ilaaha illa Allah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Walillaahil hamd.)
4. Try to pray more prayers in the Masjid
5. Increase ties of kinship (visit family, say kind words to them, etc.)
6. Perform more voluntary prayers at home
7. Read more Quran, contemplating the meanings
8. Do more Dhikr
9. Ask for forgiveness more frequently
With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level!

Assalamu Alykum Sheikh Shareef,
BarakAllahu Feek,
Pardon my ignorance - I don't understand how Dhul Hijjah days can be better than Ramadan's?
Please clarify.
JazakAllahu Khair,
SoubhanAllah, indeed, I was unaware. Incha Allah ta'ala we may benefit from these 10 days, until we will go to perform our own hajj.
On a different note now: aren't their other days we can do voluntary fasting as well? If so, and I'm positive that's the case, keep us posted incha Allah by sending us e-mail.
Wa alaykumu salaam

JAK for reminding of the opportunity that Allah(s) has yet given to us once again. Also, I believe there is alot of reward for the person performing sacrifice, if they avoid cutting their hair, trimming nails in the first 1o days similar to the Hajjis in Ihram.
JAK for sending, from what I know we can fast the first 9 days, and it is not permitted to fast on the two Eids, but all other acts should be for the 10 days. Please confirm Sheikh.
Aassalamu alaikum Shaykh, jazakumumullahu Khayran for your reminder.I was waiting for your reminder for 10 days.Because I dont know how should I prepare myself for these days.May Allah protect you and your family.I want more reminder.

Jazak Allah khair for sharing. The best ten days are of dul hijjah and they are better than the last ten days of Ramadan. But the last ten nights of Ramadan are better than the ten nights of dul hijjah because of them contains lailayul qadr which is better than one thousand nights. And we are not allowed to fast on eid.
Jazakallahu Khairan for reminding us! I know you are in Hajj right now, so please don't forget me (Sister Parween) in your duwas, especially in your sajdas, inshallah.
Assalamo alaikum
please not that it is not permssle to fast on the day of eid (both al fitr and al idha) and it is also not permissle to fast on 11,12,13 zul hijja as tese are the days tashreek and Nabi SAW forbade fasting on these days. It is also permissible to single out Fridays for fasting but if one was to join the fast with Thursday or Saturday then it would be fine.
Asalamo Alaikum
for those who are confused about superiority of these days to ramamdan.......
It is the last 10 N I G H T S of Ramadan that are the best or all nights in the entire year....and it is the first 10 D A Y S of Dhul Hijja that are the best of all days in the entire year.......

As-Salāmu `Alaykum Br. Muhammad,
I've been, Insha-Allah Ta'ala, watching your lectures on ilmcast.com and I wanted to say...you're the man! Jazak Allah Khair! Alhamdulillah, Insha-Allah Ta'ala, may you and your family be blessed and protected, and may your efforts be accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'alla. Insha-Allah, may those scholars who instructed you be blessed and protected and may their efforts be accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'alla as well.
Thank you again for all your efforts. They help me everyday to try, Insha Allah Ta'alla, to be a better Muslim (a.k.a. a better human being).
As-Salāmu `Alaykum,
