[Unveiled] Grandaddy Excuse of All Time ...

Ok, the veil has been uncovered and the word is out ...
The Granddaddy excuse of all time is, "I'd love to, really, I really would ... I JUST DO NOT HAVE ANY TIME!!!"

As in:
"I'd like to attend an Islamic class this weekend, but I've just got so many things to do."
"I'd like to buckle down and get proactive in getting married, but I'm just so busy with school."
"I have big da'wah dreams, but I'm just so busy with everyday life."
"I'd like to spend more time with my kids, but I just don't know where the time goes."

ERADICATING THE "TIME" EXCUSES
Here's how we are going to do it, in sha Allah:
>> Starting this Wednesday, and throughout the month, I'm going to be focusing on this topic of time in my emails, blog posts, webinars, etc.

>> I'm preparing a 7 part blog series, complete with graphics, to give you the most important of important time tactics

>> I'm going to prepare a power webinar on the topic

>> And for those who want to rev it to the next level, this will correspond to the first-time-ever release of the complete DiscoverU seminar entitled "Live Your Dreams", which I've renamed (with the help of Siraaj, hafidhahullah) "Time Traveller" <-- that's British spelling.

Are ya lovin' it? Here's the blog address where this is all going down:

[Urgent] Fasting Sunday Dec.27, Ashura...

Just wanted to thank brother Sami (http://www.facebook.com/nationbuilder.prime) who reminded me to remind you about fasting Sunday Dec.27, 2009 ~ Ashura, the 10th of Allah's sacred month of Muharram.

The Prophet, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, was very keen to fast on this day - so we too should be keen to fast it.
Ibn Abbas, radi Allahu 'anhu, said: “I never saw Allah's Messenger, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of ‘Aashooraa’, and this month, meaning Ramadaan.” - Bukhari

The Arabic word for 10 is 'Asharah.
Ashooraa' literally means: the TENTH, i.e. in this case the 10th of the Islamic calendar month of Muharram.
When Allah's Messenger, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, moved to Madinah, he found the non-Muslims there celebrating on that day. Their reasoning? Because, they said, that this was the day Allah saved Musa from Fir'own.

Allah's Messenger, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, responded by venerating this day through fasting, and commanded the Muslims to fast on this day as well. (But to be different from others by fasting an 'additional' day, before the 10th.  But it's alright if you didn't fast Saturday Dec.26, you can still fast Ashura.)

Action requested:
*******************
What: Fast on Ashura, which is the 10th of the Islamic calendar month of Muharram.
Who: YOU :)
When: Sunday, December 27, 2009 (From Fajr till Maghrib)
Why: Because the Prophet, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, did it, was very keen to do it, and encouraged his Ummah to do it. And because it wipes away the previous years sins.

With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level!

Incredible: Allah's Miracle of Creation [Pic] ...

[If you can't see the images below, you can view the original post with images at:

Subhan Allah! How Allah begins your creation...

Subhan Allah! How Allah promised to provide for us...

Subhan Allah! How Allah creates us stage after stage, in 3 layers of darkness, untouched by humans...

Subhan Allah! How Allah creates the bone inside our delicate flesh, in 3 layers of darkness...

Suban Allah! How we survive and swim in a 'water' world by the permission of Allah ...

Subhan Allah! Say it from the heart when you bow and prostrate in Salah today!

With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level!

Friday

So what are you going to do?

When I was young, EVERYONE on our street had christmas lights on their house. EVERY house ... except our house.

Talk about intense pressure for a kid.

Once school dismissed for the "christmas" break, I would just sit at home and wait it out. That is, until a bunch of older youth in our Winnipeg community organized a 7-day at-the-Masjid sleepover camp that was totally FAB-U-LOUS!

I loved those Masjid sleepovers so much, and in upcoming years I would make sure to keep myself busy during the holiday season with one fun Muslim activity or the other.

Many youth and young couples around the globe could use some creativity and guidance in this regard soooooo...

My question for you is:
What are fun halal and super-enjoyable activities one can do during this winter break?
What are you planning to do?
How do you intend to spend your time?

Tuesday

My Daughter's Aqiqah: YOU are invited! Sun Dec.20

Bismillah was Salatu was salamu 'ala Rasoolillah.
Alhamdulilah, my first daughter was born soon after Eid AlAdha.
And now with my second daughter I've been given the most precious Eid gift from Allah ta'ala again.

From the Sunnah of our Prophet, sal Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam, one should slaughter an animal, shave the baby's head - giving the weight of the hair in charity, and name the child.

Distributing the meat of the sacrificial animal will be done by having an "Aqiqah" party.

Here are the Aqiqah party details. It's open to the public, I would be honored if you could make a special trip to join my family and I on this special occasion. (If you are coming from out of town, please let us know so we can welcome you):

What: "Aqiqah" dinner party for Baby-Girl Alshareef
Who: Muhammad Alshareef and Family invite you and your family
Where: Ottawa Islamic School
10 Coral Avenue
Ottawa, Ontario
K2E 5Z6
When: Sunday, Dec 20, 2009; 4:30pm to 8:30pm

Jazakum Allahu khayr to all of you for your kind words and Ameen to your duas!
- Muhammad Alshareef (Abu Al-Bintayn)

Friday

Happy Fajr at Hajj

Alhamdulillah, I'm back from Hajj with a ton of stories.
(I actually listed all the amazing things I could remember, and I recommend that whenever you go on a fun trip, open your journal and write down all the cool things that happened. When the memories have faded, all that will remain will be what you wrote.)

Ok, so here is what happened:
I'm at the Ka'bah, praying Fajr.
I called someone on my mobile phone and was speaking out loud in English. People next to me could hear me speaking English.
Well...two funky dudes from Afghanistan were sitting beside me.

When I completed the call, dude no.1 turns to me and says, "Where you from?"
I say, "Canada".
Done. Really didn't pay much attention to it, stuff like that happens all the time.
That was before the prayer.

Fajr prayer, all is good.
Dude no.1 after Salah turns to me and says, so slowly and sincerely:

"I am happy you are my brother."

Shock. It was such a sweet thing to say. I was deeply touched.
He took out some 'Itr perfume oil and lathered me with it.
Smiled. Shook my hand. And was on his way.

He was from Baluchistan.

What emotions does this story evoke for you?
